Sophie The Giraffe- Is it worth the hype?

After seeing countless photos of babies with their Sophie the Giraffe and hearing that it is the must have teething toy, curiosity got the best of me and I just had to pick one up for Ailsa. I ordered mine from Mothercare for £13.99- not cheap. Born in France in 1961 Sophie the Giraffe has been a popular teething toy for over 5 decades.

The toy is made from natural rubber and is actually quite soft to the touch. I had always assumed it would be quite solid so was surprised that it was very flexible. When squeezed it has a satisfying squeak which Ailsa loves and get's all excited for. It is also well designed for small hands and Ailsa finds it easy to hold by either the neck or the legs and can easily chew on the head or the feet.

The toy has been amazing for Ailsa's teething and it goes everywhere with us now for her to chew on in the pram. As soon as she see's it she get's all excited and reaches out for it. I can really see why Sophie the Giraffe is so popular with babies and why they love it so much. It is pleasing to look at, makes a lovely not too annoying squeak which Ailsa now associates with her Sophie (we call it by it's name) and is also a great size for her little hands.

I would definitely recommend Sophie for the Giraffe for any teething baby out there and have already picked one up for a pregnant friend's baby.
