Ailsa's First Birthday Party

Last weekend we celebrated Ailsa's first birthday with a little party at home. If you seen my post with the theme inspiration then you will know that we wanted to have a pink and gold themed party which is exactly what we had.

We bought balloons  and pom poms from Hobbycraft and Clintons  to decorate the ceiling and floor. James made the banner himself from supplies we also bought at Hobbycraft.  It took him a good couple of hours to make the banner but it was worth it! we unfortunately didn't have great deal of blank wall space to hang it so we had to make do with over the window and patio doors. It still looked amazing though. We also had a lovely  crochet name banner made by our friend Sarah as a gift to Ailsa for her birthday so of course we had to get it out for the party.

We had a cake made especially by a local cake maker Hannalicious Bespoke Cakes, she also made a cake for each of my in-laws as it was both of their birthday's that weekend too. Ailsa's cake was a delicious vanilla sponge- so yummy!

Food was purchased from Costco- we had a couple of platters with sandwiches and wraps, Some Macaroons, Mini Quiches and I made cake pops with the help of my Sister-in-law. We didn't want to go too crazy on the food and we had just enough for everyone, it is far too easy to buy too much so we did a bit of planning before hand to work out exactly what we needed which I talked about here.

We had lots of fun at Ailsa's party with our wonderful friends and family. Ailsa and her friend Eris had lots of fun with the balloons. Ailsa also tried her hand at some walking around the room and entertained everyone with her general cuteness. We cannot wait to do it all again next year!
