With James and I saving up for a home of our own, we have
often spoken about what type of home we would like to buy and also which area
we would move to. Considering the type of home we would like is quite tough- do
we go for a ‘new build’ home which will be perfectly suitable to move straight
into with very little for us to do in terms of DIY or renovations or do we buy
a ‘Fixer-upper’ and do the whole house up to the exact way we want it. Having
had so many discussions regarding what we want in a house we are very much
looking to purchase a ‘fixer-upper’ when the time comes. There is so much we
would love to include in a house that it makes the most sense to us.
Our dream home would include a beautiful Wood Burning Stove,
James’ brother and his wife have one and it is just lovely to sit in front of
in the winter with a glass of wine. We would also love to have an outdoor pizza
oven. A friend of ours had one and it made the most delicious pizzas and we
love pizza so that is on our dream house wish list and we would also love to
have a hot tub outside to enjoy all year round- let’s just hope we buy a home
with a big enough garden.
For kitchen and bathroom renovations we would definitely get
our own put in to work to what we look for in them both. James is master of the
kitchen so he would make the big decisions there. For me the bathroom is one of
the most important rooms in the house. Who doesn’t love a long hot shower or
bath after a long day at work or playing with your child? My dream is to have a
waterfall shower and spotlights on the ceiling. We would also look to convert
any attic space that we would have into an office or an extra bedroom. One
company we know we could trust for roof windows is VELUX, as their head office
is in our home county and only 10 minutes from my in-laws.
VELUX Blinds has a wonderful
selection of blinds to meet whatever needs we will have when the time comes.
James really wants to look into home automation and also
have in roof speakers in every room controlled by Sonos. Seriously he has been
going on about it for years. We would also love to have a boiler we can control
using a phone app- our boiler is currently up 2 flights of stairs and it’s such
a pain to run up to turn the heating on with a little one crawling around. We
will probably try something like the Samsung SmartThings to help with our home
automation.
We are really hoping that this will become a reality for us
sooner rather than later. What would your dream home look like?
