Making new Mummy friends

Since moving to the South West the only friends I made were at work and the few friends hubby and I already had down here. Since going on maternity leave I found myself getting a bit lonely. My lovely work friends were busy during the week and also lived at least 40 minutes away. So how as an adult with a small baby do you make new friends?

When Ailsa was around 4 weeks old we started going along to our local breastfeeding support group, I have only had a couple of people around me breastfeed and no one nearby to give me that support to let me know I was doing OK. The group has been fantastic in not only providing support for breastfeeding but also in meeting new people and making friends. It is really a nice social atmosphere and great to talk about all the little things that happen with your new baby. I'm sure most baby groups will have a similar atmosphere but I haven't been to any others.

Another way I have met other mummy's is through a website Mummy Social. I'd say it's like a dating website for mums. I've met some lovely mummy's through the website. As always it's best to meet new people in a public place. You can also meet other mums at the baby weigh in clinic, your local library, sling meets and maybe just out and about at the local park.

Leave a comment below if you have any ways of meeting new mummy friends.
